about Lev
Though I live in Sweden, I actually am from that united corporation of freedom.
I've been building websites for more than a decade now, and probably coding in PHP for more than 8 years. Before that, I used to code in Perl, which is what people did before they knew about real scripting engines. I am very familiar with PHP, mySQL, Javascript, AJAX, jQuery, HTML and Photoshop.
I love Linux, though I'm far from a guru. I run the latest version (9.10) of Ubuntu - though, this is kinda for support/accessibility reasons. My favorite flavor of Linux has generally been OpenSuse, but it doesn't have as large of an active community as Ubuntu does, and support isn't as great (and Yast sucks compared to aptitude).
Theia was actually written exclusively for Tainted Thoughts. Over the past few years I realized that I should stop hard coding things that were directly related to TT, and instead focus on making it more broad and flexible so that I could one day release it.
Since I use Linux, Apache, PHP, Gedit, GD library, & mySQL I felt that I would be a hypocrite if I charged money for software when I appreciated the folks who made their software freely available to me.
That and I feel that the world has gone to hell and become a giant commercial playground where a money sign is placed on everything. This is not my vision of an ideal world, and I couldn't live with myself knowing that I would be contributing to it.
It's kind of ironic how incredibly liberal and secular I am, yet how firm in my values and principles I am at the same time.
