This has been a cause for concern for a while on TT, so I figured a bit more could be done here.
What happens is when a user updates their profile image/avatar, they often still see the old one once the page loads, because their browser is showing them a cached version of the image. Unless the user hits the "refresh" button in their browser, they won't see the new image.
Perhaps, when the image is updated, on the following page, the image URL could be appended with a unique hash, so that the image is forced to reload on the client's end.
Worth looking into.
