Since they are now depreciated in PHP 5.3, and will be gone in PHP 6.0, Theia must not rely on these in anyway...

Hopefully this will be looked into, and addressed if necessary, by the time of Theia's release. With any luck, it turns out to be a lot easier than I thought, or maybe not even relevant to Theia, but I'm really not sure whether I use them or not.

I think it would be nice to finally see them gone though, because they are a real hassle when it comes to portability.
