If you've ever run a website before, then you probably know about "meta" tags. These are HTML tags that have no design purpose, but provide information about the document for browsers and search engines.

Two of these are really important and should be filled in right away!

Both are found in the same place as well, and it is on the tools page, under "system configuration", by clicking the "manage meta tags" link (admin tool 123).

The description is a basic (short) summary of your site and what it is all about. Here's an example description (as taken from this site):

SikoSoft - Home of Theia; a powerful, free, open-source php & mySQL project to help you build your own special interest community!

The keywords field should be used to write lots of relevant and descriptive keywords. Think "tags", because that is what you want to focus on here, since what we call "tags" today are really just what "keywords" have always been.

Some folks separate each keyword using a space, while some use commas. Most search engines can interpret them either way, but it's best to separate each keyword or phrase with a comma, because it allows the search engine to make sense of multi-word keywords.

Here is an example of how you could write keywords (again, as taken from this site):

sikosoft, siko soft, theia, orpheus, php, mysql, php & mysql, content management system, cms, social networking, social network, free, open-source, open source, free download, free program, free, community, create your own website, run a website, create a community, creating worlds

Additionally, it should be noted that tagging content on your site is *very* helpful, since the tags will be prepended to your meta keywords, thus increasing the search engine relevance on a page by page basis. Since you can tag both items and sections, you're strongly encouraged to do both, because it can do wonders for your site.
