This license governs the use of Theia, the modification of Theia, and the distribution of Theia.

Open-Source

Theia may be copied, mirrored and made available through any mediums you wish, so long as these conditions are met

No modifications..? Nothing to worry about!

If it has not been modified, and all the headers remain intact, as well as the installation routines, readme and packaged documentation, then you can always redistribute Theia freely (by giving it away), without worrying about breaching any part of this agreement.

You may not make money from selling Theia. Additionally, you may not make any money from charging your users for the bandwidth. Either you give it out free, or you don't give it at all.

Modifying Theia for redistribution

While Theia is open-source, there area few limitations.

There are several things you are required to do if you are redistributing a modified version of Theia.

1) If any source code files, CSS, templates (or any other data contained in the package) has been modified, then you are required to include a text file named modifications.log in the base directory of the package structure. This file should contain the dates and notes about any changes made to the package.

2) You should also update the DIR_CFG/sikosoft.key to contain a different version number, so that users of the package will be aware the version is not an official release. It is encouraged to use the version you made modifications to as the base of your new version. For example, if you made changes to "1.0.0b1", then you're encouraged to change the key's version to something like "1.0.0b1-express", where you would replace "express" with whatever you want to call your modified version. You do NOT need to include the original version in your version name, but it is helpful if you do, because it would then be much more integral with Theia installers (themes, language packs and the likes).

3) No part of the Theia software may be copied (whether it's a function, class, file or merely some chunk of code) if it is to be used with any commercial software. If you are using any of the code from Theia, it may only be used with projects you give out freely. You are not allowed to charge any amount of money for a product that contains code from Theia; this is absolutely forbidden.

4) The powered-by notice should be kept intact at all times, unless the total source code has been modified by at least 10%. Paying for branding removal only allows you to remove the powered-by notice on your own website, and does not give you permission to remove the powered-by notice when redistributing Theia.

Modifying Theia for personal use

If you are only modifying Theia for your own personal use, then you do not need to keep a change.log, but are encouraged to at least rename the version in DIR_CFG/sikosoft.key, so that you do not give folks browsing your site the impression that just because they see something on your site it must be in the Theia package on our site. And, as usual, modifying Theia for personal use all requires that you keep the powered-by notice intact.

Under certain, rare conditions exceptions can be made if SikoSoft is properly compensated. If you wish to use any part of Theia in a way which does meet the above criteria for redistrubtion, you are welcome to request permission.
