For normal sites it probably will not be an issue for a very long time from now, but the fact remains there is a terrible design flaw with the chatterbox, and this is another remnant of some of the archaic design from Tainted Thoughts in Theia.

Simply put, the chatter box doesn't have its own mySQL table (*gasp* - I know). Instead it uses the "feedback" table, which is the same table used for comments and guestbook entries. Right now on TT, there are over 39,000 records in this table, which would completely explain why I've noticed writing messages in the chatter box has become slower. It would also explain the recent occurrence in which the server hung and upon rebooting the "feedback" table for the TT database was corrupt.

Because many operations relating to the chatter box (such as flood control) need to scan through the existing records, the chatter box needs its own table, and it doesn't need many of the fields associated with the feedback field, which will server as an improvement in two different ways.
